About Santi

Santi Lawrachawee started his career as graphic design by working with several design
companies and later found his own design studio “Practical Design Studio”.
In the mean time, he has also been teaching at Chulalongkorn University,
Bangkok University and many organizations.
Working with the Education Institute made him realize that
‘designer roles are no longer limited by commercial value andcan expand to create various design projects and activities within society’.

Santi is also very active in the arts and design community in Thailand.
He is the founder of Practical Studio and has since incorporated art and design activities with design works.
His works lie in various positions such as design director of brand identity design
for the Democrat Party, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
(BACC) and Thailand Happiness Center. He akso was design director for
“Show Me Thai” exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo,
The Makong Art & Culture Project, Talk About Love exhibition and Portrait of the King exhibition.
In 2012, he is a design consultant of Royal Institute Thai Dictionary 2011.

In addition, Santi has presented his solo & group exhibitions e.g. “Yes I am not”(solo 2008), “Yes we are not”(2008), “Krung Thep: Kao Nok Ook Nai”(2009), “No conical hats: Southeast Asian works on paper”(Singapore)(2010), “Thai-yo”(2010) and the lastest solo exhibition in Singapore “I am not me. This map is not mine.”(2011)

In 2009, Santi initiated the project collaborated with his studio and Thai Graphic Designer Association (ThaiGa) “I am a Thai graphic designer exhibition” which presented 1,146 works from Thai graphic designers. In 2010, He curated the paper design exhibitions “Paper Matter” at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
and co-organized “heART to Heart” exhibition which presented 19 works from Thai and international graphic designers under theme “HOPE”&“LOVE” on construction hoarding in front of Centralworld building, Rajprasong Junction. He also initiated the graphic design forum “Somewhere Thai” that included 50 speakers to represent “Thainess” in design work. And in 2011, he was co-curator for “Let’s Panic” exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC).
